Below is intended as an idea of what we serve in the bar and restaurant

We cook fresh to order so you may have to wait a little longer than elsewhere

 

Restaurant Menu

Starters (from £4 to £7)

 

Soup of the Day - served with bread and butter    

Grilled asparagus - with poached free range egg, parmesan and aged balsamic dressing

Terrine of home cooked ham with herbs, chutney and   toasted organic bread

Seared scallops - with sweet chilli jam and crème fraiche            

Locally smoked Trout with beetroot, horseradish and potato salad

Smoked Gressingham Duck breast - with  a celeriac and pear salad.                                           

Antipasti (for 1 or 2) Selection of cured meats, olives, sun-dried tomatoes and stuffed bell peppers                                                                                 

Whole smoked camembert - baked and served with marinated olives and organic breads.  (enough for two – or one hungry person!)

Moules Marinieres – mussels in a white wine, cream and garlic sauce

 

Main Course (from £10 to £15)

 

Rib Eye Steak - served with either herb and garlic or black pepper and shallot butter, roasted vine tomatoes and  hand-cut chips.

Venison Steak served with creamed savoy cabbage, potato and thyme rosti and a winter fruit sauce.                                                          

Fish and Chips - fillet of cod, deep fried in beer batter with mint and pea puree and hand-cut chips.

Red onion tart tatin (V) – glazed with goats cheese and thyme and served with seasonal salad

Macaroni Cheese (V) with young spinach, leeks and parmesan crust.    

Salmon and Smoked Haddock Fishcakes with young spinach and a lemon and herb veloute.

Roast Breast of Corn-fed Chicken - served on baby spinach with a wild mushroom and cream sauce and new potatoes.

Calves’ Liver – pan fried with butter and sage served with crispy parma ham creamed potatoes and green beans.

Braised Suffolk Lamb Shank - served with parsnip puree chantenay carrots and a red wine and rosemary sauce.

Confit of Duck – with roast garlic mash, roasted shallots and red wine sauce.

 

 

Side Orders    Mixed Salad  -  Extra Potatoes – Chips – Selection of Vegetables     £2-50

 

Desserts (from £3.50 to £6.50)

 

Hot chocolate fondant pudding with coconut sorbet.

Warm pear, honey and almond tart with crème anglaise    .            

Crème brulee with mixed plum compote.

Brioche bread and butter pudding with Glen Morangie crème anglaise.

                                                       

Selection of ice creams, we usually have:

Bar Menu

 

Soup of the Day – served with bread                                                      

The Elmdon Burger An 8-ounce burger with a full garnish and hand-cut chips.

Ham egg and chips - home cooked honey roast ham, 2 eggs and hand-cut chips.

Hot Chicken Salad Strips of warm chicken with peppers, mushroom and red onion with honey and mustard dressing.

Penne (V) with roast aubergine, cherry tomatoes, roast chilli and buffalo mozzarella.

Smoked Salmon Pasta Tagliatelle with smoked salmon in a lemon, dill and cream sauce.

Sausage and Mash Speciality sausages, creamy leek mash and whole grain mustard gravy.

 

Baguettes :

Chicken, bacon and mayonnaise. 

Sausage with caramelised onions.                              

4 oz steak, caramelised onions, Dijon mustard and watercress and rocket salad.    

 

Sandwiches

Served on white, brown or ciabatta with a salad garnish

Ham – home cooked honey glazed ham.        

Smoked Salmon with cream cheese.                           

Mature Cheddar – with red onion.                   

 

Toasted Sandwiches

Ham and Cheese.                                                                

Tuna and Cheese melt.                                                                   

Brie – toasted with avocado and cranberry.  

Brie and bacon – as above but with crispy grilled bacon.       

 

Snacks

Bowl of olives.

Bowl of hand cut chips.                          

Garlic Bread.
